Betteshanger Sports & Social Club

Nestled away at the top end of Deal, just off Mill Hill is our hidden little gem "Bettes Bar" offering live music, plus an extensive drinks selection; including a Gin menu, in-house cocktails, and draught beers. Under new management, our newly named Bettes Bar opened its doors on Friday 17th March, and is run by husband and wife team, Richard & Marie. Richard is a Company Director of a large local engineering company while Marie has worked in hospitality and front of house for the majority of her working career. Richard & Marie have four children who will be involved and ensure the bar is run to their parent's expectations. Hannah Ambriz has taken on the role of Bar Manager and will lead by example ensuring Marie's strict high standards are adhered to and maintained both in terms of service, and hygiene.

Our Story

Marie & Hannah started their friendship through football where both their sons play for Betteshanger FC. A long term friendship ensued and they jumped at the opportunity of running a Cafe within the old Cricket Pavilion. The name "Cafe Pariz" a culmination of the first three letters of Marie's surname and the last three of Hannah's, gave the Cafe a kind of continental twist!
Having made such a transformation from what once appeared to be a run-down cricket pavilion that needed a lot of TLC, the cafe was born and is now a much-loved asset amongst our sporting sections and visitors alike.

Having heard the bar was out for tender, Richard & Marie gave it a great deal of thought and decided to put in their proposal. Having seen firsthand what they can achieve in just a short space of time in taking over the Cafe, the Trustees were under no illusion of what this team could achieve within our facility. The promise of longer opening hours and a list as long as "Schindlers" of their suggested forthcoming events was an opportunity not to be missed.

Dover District Councils Environmental Health Officer recently rated "Bettes Bar" as 5 (Very Good) with the Food Standards Agency on 29th June 2023.
